11/20/2023 0 Comments Reddit funny yelp reviewsThey don't care about review manipulation, they embrace it if it promotes ads. What does that say about their algorithm if they block that many legit reviews? They don't care, because they are an advertising company not a review site and the reviews are simply there to get people to come to the platform to view ads. I have only about 10 valid (showing) reviews. I know that 100% of the ~30 NOT RECOMMENDED reviews for my business page are 100% real and accurate. I literally have a photo of every client. They mention staff by name, they aren't bots, they aren't fake.Īs I mentioned, I'm a photographer too. You can absolutely tell that nearly all of these reviews in the non recommended section are legitimate. Who cares if they are all 5-stars? It would be the same if they were all 1-star and they used the site exactly once or twice (over HALF of the examples here). Do you want someone coming out attempting to destroy your business, creating fake account after fake account to throw off your overall rating? Of course not, you need to think through what you're arguing for before it works against you, it's also made this way to protect you and your business. I also don't think I saw someone write more than one paragraph, another red flag for the algorithm.Īnd it works in reverse too. They want users engaged over and over again, reviewing multiple businesses and coming back to utilize the system so their ACCOUNT is deemed legitimate. Yelp doesn't want a business owner to send someone out to give a glowing (likely not very detailed) review and then never use the site again. And NONE of them had more than 15 reviews. If you advertise, many of those 1-star reviews will appear in the non recommended section for as long as you keep advertising.ġ1% of those users had more than 10 reviews, so you're basically proving my point. Many of these non recommended reviews are people with profile photos, friends, multiple reviews, etc.Īgain, I know nothing about the company above, I'm just replying to your completely wrong comment that "I can guarantee those filtered are from users with likely a) no photo b) short, generic reviews c) few reviews overall."Īnd it works in reverse too. Overall rating was definitely knocked drown from 5 stars overall by having 41% of their reviews hidden into the "not recommended" and it's not an accident that literally all of these reviews are glowing reviews. Just read the reviews and you can see they are 5 stars. I casually just found another Photographer who is NOT a Yelp Advertiser (This is NOT me) to give you view an example:Ģ6 Not Recommended Reviews - All non-recommended reviews are excellent, likely all 5 stars but now Yelp just grays out the not recommended, mmended star rating to hide that they are all likely 5 star reviews. Since you likely will never admit you're dead wrong.
